Transforming Lives in Fiji

Operation Open Heart will touch down in Fiji for the 20th time in 2011!  The team of 50 volunteers have all donated their time and expertise to help Fijians with no access to cardiac surgery, and are aiming to give 55 Fijians the gift of surgery that will totally transform the lives of the patient and their family.

Since the beginning of Operation Open Heart in 1986, over 80 similar adventures have taken place all over the world and more than 2000 patients have received surgery.  Without Operation Open Heart many of these patients would not have survived, and at best most would not be able to lead the active and productive lives that are today.

Funds raised cover the necessary purchase of medical equipment and supplies, travel costs and freight.  Each operation costs approximately $3,500 but does increase depending on the complexity.
